My wife and I took a motorcycle ride down OR Hwy 138 this past weekend. Hwy 138 is otherwise known as the North Umpqua Hwy, it runs from Roseburg, Oregon to US Hwy 97 in Central Oregon. The fires along hwy 138 really took a toll on this once very scenic ride, now for about 30 miles from Idleyld Park to Dry Creek it's now nothing but burnt out homes and destroyed trees. These fires burnt so hot that the bark on the trees don't stop the damage, the trees are dead and the ground got so hot that it is sterilized, now new growth of plants will take awhile thus leading to landslides along the burnt out areas.

A1C Doug Towsley - Sorry to hear that the fires affected you. Hopefully you can salvage something. It was a bad year for fires.

A1C Doug Towsley - Oh. I misread you then. I'm glad y'all made it through. It sucks for the rest of the people.

A1C Doug Towsley - No worries. I was merely saying it is too bad about the other folks and that y'all were lucky. I'm sure it was a difficult situation for you. It's amazing that fire can skip areas and decimate the rest.
