Just put your thumb up. If your thumb covers the mushroom cloud, you're outside the kill zone. If it doesn't... oh well.

That is a neat tool. In my civilian line of work I am an security officer at a nuclear power plant. We get to learn about all of these fun things. I also learned if one went off I am pretty much screwed since my house is so close.

Does it take into account wind speed/direction at the site and calculate downwind hazard of the fallout?

Yes. There is a fallout box to check. That gives you a wind sock icon you can drag to show wind direction.
