While media paints the Ukraine situation as a WW3 possibility we quickly forget how North Korea is doing what they are doing. Bottomline, is there a justification for anyone suggesting military response if Russian military occupies Ukraine?
I would say only political consequences beginning with UN sanctioning if not expelling Russia.
North Korea like Iran will do what they are going to do and argue US and Europe have zero authority to dictate to a sovereign nation what military capacity one can have.

North Korea situation is different…
DPRK wants official recognition, trade and peace treaty in order for authoritarian Kim regime to maintain power. It may invade recognized South Korea later, but DPRK is firing missiles in order to blackmail for foreign aid and look strong.
Russia-Ukraine situation involves two separate sovereign entities. Putin wants to take Ukraine intact without using nuclear weapons in order to regain USSR prestige and have access for trade (Crimea is key terrain near Black Sea)

My point is criticism of media coverage not that the situation is the same. How suddenly we stopped caring about NK and the brink of war with their missile launches. If S Korea is invaded, the alliance we have is a mandate to respond. The US has no such mandate with Ukraine so this expectation from politicians and media to commit military response is exaggerated nonsense.
