While my pictures can't compete with those lovely sunsets posted every day, I do hope they might take you back to a place you might have forgotten...childhood. I see a lot of posts, new stories and articles that bemoan the fact that kids aren't having a childhood anymore. I don't agree. We gave our kids a childhood, and my grandkids are having one too.
Camping on a deserted barrier island, clambering over a WW II Battleship, or hunting for turtles, crayfish, or spotting birds...they have things like this every week of their childhood. Every day, practically.
They have school friends, play in bands, ride skateboards and do bike tricks. They get bruised, scuffed, scraped and dirty. They also watch some YouTube and the occasional movie. Arts and crafts, or working with their Father in the Garage fixing motorcycles, or building things...and they are not alone. Most of their friends are following that same trajectory. The big difference, as far as I can see, is they are not burdened with Adult Anger over Politics, and they watch very little TV. So they are having a childhood. They will be Adults soon enough, and then they will have to find different ways to play and learn. Until then, a nearby tree, or a ramp for their bikes, and they will run themselves into bedtime.
And in spite of what you might have been led to believe, they will grow up and say what I did: "Man, I grew up at the right time. I had a great childhood."

Totally agree, things may have been a bit more "innocent" in our childhood but the opportunity is still there for today's kids.

SGT Kevin Hughes Your grandchildren are doing a great thing and will remember these days of youth much more than that video game they played today. Good job in getting kids to be just kids and engaging in the great outdoors.
