Do not worry too much about this now, you really should only be using your army.mil account for official material and if you are not on a computer using your CAC card pretty regularly, you will want to use your private e-mail whenever possible.

You'll need a CAC reader for your pc to access it. They don't allow username/psw access anymore. You may run into issues depending on the browser that you're using. If you do you can go to militarycac.com and it'll give you a step by step for how to set up your browser. It's kind of a pain in the keister. On my current laptop I haven't been able to make it work. I don't know if they've made it compatible with the Microsoft Edge browser yet. I think it usually works fairly easily with Chrome and Firefox though.

I'm sure it is still Army Knowledge Online (AKO), http://www.us.army.mil, it was taken away from retirees about 5 years ago or less. I guess because of funding, but go to your first line supervisor to verify this information.
