What matters is what the voters think and what his peers in Congress thinks.
The voters will keep him in the seat and your peers are who you have to work with on a daily basis.
Those 13 Progressive groups have nothing to lose.

I bet there was already an agreement among the members of Congress how this will play out. In the end, Hillary described it best: you have both a public and private position on things.

I agree. I am certain Schumer sees there is no way to stop the confirmation and has privately told the at risk Democrat Senators to vote as they see fit.

He has nothing to lose, everything to gain. They go home if they lose the mid terms, my bet is on their survival instincts.

My view is the more left side of the Democrats (Progressives/alt-left), are like children. They see an issue they don't like and are willing to conduct a burnt earth type response regardless of the consequences. Example: last years Supreme Court confirmation of Gorsuch. There was no possibility of stopping the confirmation, Progressives forced Democrat Senators to attempt a filibuster despite warnings by Republicans that they would overcome the filibuster by changing the rules. Democrats are now powerless to stop a Supreme Court confirmation without the help of at least 2 Republican Senators

Remember, the progressives in the green party and the Socialist left, which Roost in Canada, had given the left the inspiration to try to rock the boat and considering people like Pelosi, boxer and Feinstein a sellout and to moderate for actually working with the Republican party when in fact they have been against the Republican Party. I live up here in Canada and it's kind of a civil war between green party, Liberal Party and conservative party people.

Too moderate... Using voice text. I have to make a correction, in Canada and it's probably the same in the United States, you have socialist types. Liberal Democrat types conservative types and extreme environmental types of people. All of a sudden, and British Columbia, we have extreme leftist green party stopping all pipeline expansion and trying to put studies to stall any Headway in getting the pipeline approved and having Environmental friendly judges stop the pipeline cold even when a liberal prime minister under wrote it to make sure it became a true pipeline expansion only to be killed by the court saying that the increased tank or traffic's going to kill the native way of life because it's going to kill too many whales. That's how messed up it is here in Canada and that's probably how it's going to be if the extreme left environmental Democrats gained power and the Socialist types as well.

LTC (Join to see) correction, super tanker traffic in the water is just off Vancouver. The supertanker traffic is going to kill too many whales and the natives are complaining but I think the natives have been paid off by Greenpeace because another native tribe wants the money because they want the royalties. That's why I'm saying if there's an environmental civil war going on in western Canada. We had no problem building the pipeline in 1954 but we have a problem tripling the size of the pipeline in 2018 and it'll probably take until 2028 until the Supreme Court of Canada okay's the pipeline. In the meantime, provinces that we're going to pay carbon taxes are now saying vs, we're not going to pay carbon taxes on our fuel if you won't let us sell our fuel! The second and third order effects of environmentalist leftist types standing in the way of progress
