MAJ Ken Landgren Personal Journey With PTSD.
Ken is a great member of Warriors for Life (WFL) Virtual Support Group Community Services and he is constantly sharing information to help others deal with PTSD.
His Personal Journey with PTSD:
- Instead of looking for reasons to die, look at reasons to live. My reason was to live for the family.
- Dealing with depression: Open your heart and mind to what you love and acknowledge the beauty around you. Depression will go down as you work on different symptoms.
- Dealing with stress: Attack stressors one at a time. Pick the closest stressors that impact your life and move further out.
- Dealing with racing thoughts: I repeatedly said it was in the past, and it does not matter now.
- There was a time I became numb to protect myself, but it is not the state you want to be in for a long time.
- I eventually accepted myself. I determined I won the battle and accepted my New Normal.
- The bonus of accepting yourself is your wings will get stronger and you will learn to fly again.

What is challenging about PTSD is the problems are hard to define as many symptoms are swirling. One must define a problem in order to fix it.PO3 Charles Streich

My understanding came after looking at the rear view mirror. What does I appreciate your insights even if it doesn’t show? SSG Brian Hatcher
