So I just finished a "ZOOM" meeting with a Researcher from Rutgers. She is doing a Research Project..and I volunteered to be Interviewed for it. So she turned out to be a great listener ...and had many questions for me. And she knew how to drag out more information.
When we got done, she told me that the Interview would be put into a transcript, and all the non salient, or personal give aways about me- would be scrubbed..so that only the pertinent information to their Study remained.
I said:
"Oh, you poor thing. You had to listen to me spew facts out for an hour, now you have to spend three hours typing them all out, and Editing that transcript."
She laughed.
"No, Kevin (She stopped calling me Mr. Hughes, after the first half hour. I have that effect on people.) When I ZOOM, it is recorded and transcribed automatically. And we have built an AI to specifically to glean, collate, and cooperate everyone's Interviews -so we can assess the Data."
WTF!
What a boon that is for Academics. Some scary parts to it, but man oh man, the usefulness is off the charts!

AI allows you to skip meetings on Zoom, or Teams, and go back and read the transcript much faster, to see if anything worthwhile happened.
It is effectively documented proof that many meetings could have been an email.

That made me laugh, as the way you brought it up...I hate meetings. This was a research study...so it was a bit different. They were Doctors and Scientists with defined objectives, and goals. So it helped them get a bit smarter.

Sometimes. It can be incredibly useful. I use it when my searches don't find what I'm looking for, and ta da! it will dig stuff out. I know it can return bogus info, but it's a great place to start looking if you can't find it.

Yes, be aware of the scariness of AI. Help the world should an invisible machine outsmart us.
