Are there current, enlisted jobs available in the Navy Reserve?

So long story short I live in Las Vegas Nevada and I have a signed 368 to leave the national guard and enlist into the navy reserve. The only problem is the only prior service recruiter is in riverside California. This guy is impossible to get ahold of and has not scheduled me for a physical even. He claims there "are no jobs" but can anyone confirm if this is true? Any advice?

SGT Paolo De La Paz I find that Hard to Believe, What are you interested in? Maybe You can Target that Question to that Navy Community. I come from the Cryptologic Community. In the Navy We talk about Our "Rates" which are Our Job Specialties. Look at the Navy Rates and start bugging the Folks here in that Rate they could better answer your Question I Suspect.

I had a sailor of mine that wanted to leave engineering for aviation. I fully supported his decision as he was in an overmanned rating and he was a much better fit for the aviation world (had previous civilian experience). His detailer didn't want to help out, said there was nothing he could do. I told the sailor that there is always a way. Sent him to talk to some aviation folks in our area, and let them know he was interested in crossing over and who should he talk to to make it happen. They hooked him up with a POC in aviation detailing and he was re-detailed in a couple of months.
My point is this, if you want something, go out and get it. If you wait for a detailer that isn't helping you, then you will be waiting a long time. Not that they are bad, but they are overworked. Find out what you want to do, find someone that is in that field that can help, and then tell them what you can provide them. Make the decision easy for them.
