A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - paycheck we'd get all excited about the amount of back pay we were going to get since we worked with out a contract for ever then we'd see that the insurance cost would equal the amount of our raise or close to it. The railroad doesn't pay into social security. Pay into their own retirement fund.

I Knew A Guy Back In Arkansas When I Was Stationed At Little Rock AFB Whom Worked For The Rail Road As A "Brakeman". Although The Job Itself No Longer Existed As The Braking System Was Automated, The Rail Road Company Kept Them On The Payroll, Losing Them Only By Attrition - As Each Person Retired They Simply Didn't Replace Them. He Said He Went To Work Every Day And Just Kicked Back While Riding In The Caboose.
