My Friend Martin who turns 95 just before Christmas, sent me this book last year. And it really does capture a lot of what my future may hold. It is difficult to read in a way...because his writing style is literally from two centuries ago. He turned 80 in 1960.
But the little stories from other people, about how they aged, how they felt about aging, and some even had careers into their 80's...those were quite impressive.
I could write a "View from Seventy"...at least I thought so. But now, headed towards 75...well, seventy seems so long ago. I know, right? But man oh man, would I love to have my 63 year old body back. Or even my 70 year old body back. But if I had to give up a single memory to get younger...I would pass on that.
A good day for me now, is humbling in its simplicity. Why did I think I needed stuff, or awards, or whatever? I got my health. I got people that love me. I have a roof over my head. And I have enough to eat. And today is where my head is at, not at some tomorrow where things will be better.
So the view from my seventies...is pretty good.

Going to have to find that book SGT Kevin Hughes
I do understand what you are saying about what really matters.,...when I look back at myself and what I thought was important 30 years ago, or 20 or 10 or even 5...I am grateful to be up, moving, have coffee, a warm bed, a loving partner, enough food and all our kids/grandkids are happy to talk to us (the great grand isn't talking yet, LOL)

It's a short book, and if you can handle the archaic language...it is a good read!

I eat archaic language for breakfast. Grew up with my father's 1930's college reading collection. Now, that is one aspect of life that has changed.

SrA Cecelia Eareckson - Then you will enjoy his book! It has sentences with over fifty words, including semi-colons, and other assorted punctuation. And his vocabulary is frightening in its breadth. I did enjoy it, but it almost ate me for breakfast!
