Alright....stationed at Fort Hood so we know things are a little tense. Here's the story.

Yesterday had a Soldier post on social media

"some of the nco's I deal wit at work are lucky I have a family to take care of cuz if they only knew... !!!!"

If we only knew what? I drew my own conclusion and made him report to his NCO on Staff Duty. When he reported he was questioned and counseled. As he left, he said "this is why we have SPC Lopez's around this post".

Soldier owns guns and lives off post. I informed the Chain of Command, who decided all we should do is refer him for help. I was not comfortable with this and viewed it as a threat to all of us. I called 911 non emergency who visited his house. The Soldier said he is not planning to do anything and blamed all of us and his Chain of Command for "not doing shit" for him, which is not the case. He's PCSing soon to Fort Benning and he is given plenty of time to do all he needs. He is too far out to do anything at this point besides schedule household goods and put in his leave, which he has(with assistance from us). He also has plenty of advice and assistance with his PCS. The only resistance he is facing is due to the fact that each time he has to go take care of something, he takes 10 times too long to do it, and is becoming frustrated because we have to constantly keep track of him and question why he's not back from what he's doing. He feels singled out because I guess he doesn't witness us keeping track and digging in to other Soldiers the way we do him.

I am not comfortable with what's going on....a Soldier directly references a mass shooting, condones it, and nothing happens? What should I do? I'm at a loss at this point.

Exercise the chain of command and concern. "Homicidal ideation" is reportable all the way up the chain. I'm sure the Commanding General will do more than just counsel him. It is evident that he needs help!!

At this point you have done all you pretty much can do, just continue to monitor/track the individual until he has PCSd, you have brought your concerns higher, and unless the individual does something that really crosses a line, you are done. CoC has been notified of your concerns and the Soldier's mutterings/actions, so hopefully they'll maintain SA concerning the Soldier as well.

I guess I missed the part about the soldier referencing a mass shooting? Does this soldier talk about the guns he owns off post? How is that known? Are you a friend of the soldier on social media or has your unit just set up some sort of monitoring program?

When I was on active duty I refused to register any weapons I had in my off base home on post. I also refused to allow any health and welfare inspections or the chain of command to enter my home off post. I did not feel comfortable allowing the government to monitor my personal residence, family and possessions.

Sounds like maybe I don't see the complete content of the post that may have had reference to a direct threat?
