Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the July 11th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "Andromeda over the Sahara Desert." This composite image is the result of four exposures: one foreground taken at the Blue Hour, and three background. The scene is the Sahara Desert in Morocco. The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and its satellite (M110) are believed to be 2.5 million light years from Earth.
