The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a New York state gun control law that required gun owners seeking a license to carry a concealed handgun to demonstrate a "proper cause" to do so.
In a 6-3 ruling, the Court reversed a lower court decision upholding the law and delivered the most significant victory for gun rights in more than a decade.

Great minds think alike, Lt Col Charlie Brown... A few minutes ago I posted the same information using another link... It's a win for the 2nd Amendment of our U.S. Constitution!!!

I'm amazed as the majority of the news coverage mischaracterizes the decision. New York was limiting carry permits to certain areas of the state based solely on your home location. It's still required to get a permit, it just can't be denied based on your address.

A CCW issued anywhere in the state except NYC is not valid in NYC. When Tammany Hall syphilitic operative "Big Tim" Sullivan got the gun control law that bears his name passed, a permit was good state-wide.
Then some of the NYC hoods who either worked for Tammany Hall, or were "freelancers" started bribing upstate judges to issue them carry permits. Tammany Hall got the law changed to keep the power over who could be armed exclusively theirs.
