No immunity meant no sizable residual troop presence. The Obama administration did at one time envision 10,000 troops in Iraq past the Dec. 31, 2011, pullout. However that number shrank to 5,000 before negotiations stalled amid a the legal snare over immunity of American forces in Iraqi courts. However when the Obama administration attributed its diplomatic failure as residing with Baghdad it was a failure in our foreign policy as well. Pulling out the shit deflector and pointing fingers - not surprised Iraq's military is under performing.

SSG Pete Fleming I respect the responses you put here on rally point
But I have to ask with respect to a rack being on its way to being self-sufficient and capable of defending itself without US support is this something you observed personally you read about somebody you trusted told you so ?

I ask because from my position in 2010 I cannot concur the rack was capable of willing to Orwood in the foreseeable future be ready to go on as a nation without significant US support

I was there in 03/04... and yes a lot changed since then. But they were calming down and though there was still tension, often very violent tension between the groups, they were moving in a forward direction. They needed us to stay and secure the fringe elements while the main body healed their wounds and moved forward. By '08 this was happening, and did need some more time. But once we pulled out and even changed our overall ME policies it created a vacuum. Radicals took advantage of this, followed by a our support of the failed Arab spring, which resulted in the toppling of governments in Egypt and Libya and the Syrian Civil war, which then brought the refugee crisis. We stood by and did nothing while the extremist, later to be called ISIS rolled across the dessert seizing military equipment and territory. Had we stayed, in force the radicals would never gotten the initial strong hold, but we should never have supported and sponsored the Arab spring either.

MSgt Borders,
I can not answer the first part of your question. But, there is no such thing as radical Islam.
Apostates might be considered radical within Islam
Have a great afternoon,

We will have to agree to disagree. I believe there is radical splinters/factions in all religion. So in there philosophy they are radical Islam or radical Christianity etc.
You have a great afternoon also!
