No, we do not live in a racist country, but ask Tim Scott if he has ever been pulled over without cause. He must say yes to that because I saw him myself say that he, even as a US Senator, was pulled over for no cause when in certain areas. We have had a race problem in this country since its inception. I still remember White and "Colored" drinking fountains and restrooms in the South in 1970, even though it was illegal Federally. There were still miscegenation laws on the books after Tim Scott was born. Jim Crow was alive and well when Tim Scott was a child. Although old, my Mother-in-law's and Father-in-law's property deed has a clause that denied them from selling to "Negoes".

I would be naive to think that there is not systemic racism still in our country.

It is not a country problem, it is an individual one. You cannot solve it with a broad brush.
