Had a hard time listening to the Boston Pops playing all the patriotic music last night. Think many of the Jan 6 detainees who claim to be "patriots" should have that music piped in to their jail cells for an hour every day.
Not getting RP notifications or email again so not ignoring folks, just not seeing a lot of posts.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen: Of all the people to sing our National Anthem, this one is definitely the best. And if there is anyone right now who is dealing with watching o'er the ramparts, the bombs bursting in air....

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel
..."If the anthem is a problem, Davone Tines has proposed one solution: replace it with "Lift Every Voice and Sing." This song was composed around 1900 by the brothers James Weldon and R. Rosamond Johnson. Beginning around World War I, it became known as the "Black national anthem."

Whether it is on this day, or those other days when hope and history rhymes, Americans will take to their feet and sing that their flag is still there."

Jim Crow segregation had pervaded every aspect of American society since the 1890s. And the military was no exception.

When black men volunteered for duty or were drafted following the Japanese sneak attack, they were relegated to segregated divisions and combat support roles, such as cook, quartermaster and grave-digging duty. The military was as segregated as the Deep South.

When black soldiers came home after the war still wearing the American uniform, they were brutalized by white people, by a white government who did NOTHING to the perpetrators.

So yeah when it comes to the Flag.... miss me with that. My Grandfathers, my Uncles were disrespected during and after their service while pledging to up hold the u.s. constitution, honor the country and flag that didn’t represent them as full citizens simply because they were black men. The flag doesn’t represent black people as a whole even in 2020’. Black People are told they can leave the country, which is code to “go back to Africa” if the #takeaknee if they protest in ANY manner.

White Americans who are racist owe us a apology, those who don’t consider themselves racist but stand on the sidelines and do nothing to better the injustice to non-whites.... you owe us a apology and need to help end systematic racism. America needs to change its racist, hateful political, economic policies. Period

The United States National Anthem gets glossed over, there’s 3 additional verses to the entire anthem and just because they don’t get sung does not change there both implied and direct meaning.

3rd verse of the anthem:

“And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

*Band : a company of persons or, sometimes, animals or things, joined, acting, or functioning together; aggregation; party; troop:

*Vauntingly : to speak vaingloriously of; boast of:

*Refuge : a place of shelter, protection, or safety.

*Hireling : a person who works only for pay, especially in a menial or boring job, with little or no concern for the value of the work

*Slave : a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them.

{The U.S. Flag Code says that flying the American flag upside down signals dangers or distress. When flown upside down, the American flag is recognized as a signal of danger or distress.}
