"4.1.5. Items such as bottle openers, knives, and so on, cannot be worn on the ID tag
chain." --AFI36-3103 18 MAY 2016

Does a wedding ring or a leather/silicone spacer count as ''and so on"?
Thanks in advance for any clarification on this!

And thanks LT Brad McInnis for your suggestion to wear ring on one's WATCH BAND!

Don't get degloved because your proud to be espoused! Wear a silicone ring!
(Also, don't google degloving images unless you have a strong stomach.)

The place below sells silicone rings that look like metallic ones:

One place silicone tags are sold:

Found a leather tag for sale here, but I'd save the money and use a piece of a belt or something:

After seeing and treating my first degloving in the Emergency Dept. my wedding band went into the jewelry box, and that is where it has stayed.

Maj Robert Thornton - It only takes one episode of seeing a degloving to change people's mind about safety.

True. I know of one guy who lost his right ring finger, along with his class ring, after slipping down a ladder. There are also jobs involving high voltage/current where wearing anything metallic, i.e. dog tags, rings, etc., can be deadly. I always kept one dog tag on my boot and the other in my wallet. Until I got a staff job I left my wedding band at home.

I'm sure it's fine.
I would worry more about the chain breaking and not being able to recover the ring.

Silicone rings are very popular for wear in these situations.

The chain is called a "break chain" because that's it's job.

Leave the ring at home and wear a silicone ring in its place.

When I was married I wore one from QALO.com but there are other options now.

Yes... But... My experience is that in situations where it is unsafe to wear a ring, that a dog tag chain is not something to depend upon. The Dog tags are flat and unlikely to catch. A ring...?!?.

I farm now. My wife works with me on the farm. The rings come out of the jewelry box when we put on our best overalls and spray the manure off the boots for an evening of fine dining and God Awful Karaoke at the local bar.
