I do miss travel. Not traveling. Crowds and congested planes...don't miss those at all. But seeing this amazing world of ours...yep. Miss that. Luckily I still have friends that travel!
So my buddy Tim and his wife Faith live over in Portugal. They decided to go to a small town in Italy for a week. They are avid hikers. So they walked up to the top of a hill where there was a Castle from back in the Early Medieval Times. And they took this picture.
In some ways it looks like a Painting to me. And in others, if I could paint, well, I would use this as my subject. And to think for almost a thousand years, folks who lived in that Castle, could look out over the Valley. Of course, back then, the owners of that Castle, probably owned the Valley, and everything in it. Including the people. So maybe I would paint it without the folks in it. LOL

Oh, don't I know. Having been to all fifty states, there are still hundreds of places I would like to see! Some of them I would like to see again. Every single state, bar none, has dozens of things worth seeing.

Hang on Richard, I think he sent it in the email. Let me check. Yep, here is what he wrote me: "And just a couple of pictures; the first is looking from our villa in Sevetallie (sp?) over to Peccioli (about 4 miles away). Of course there is a castle there! But beautiful little town with tons of art and restaurants..."
Is your family from that area?

Thanks! No, my family was all northern Europe (Germany and England). I was in Italy for three years with NATO. It looks familiar (but then, many places in Italy do), so I wanted to see if I'd been there. Sadly, no.

CW3 Richard Doty - Well then, you just have to go back! I made my kids laugh when I told them I had been to Rome almost a dozen times over three decades...and every doggone time the Colosseum and Sistine Chapel were Closed for some reason. But I did, finally, get to see the Sistine Chapel, before they cleaned off the smoke and grime of six centuries. My daughter's have only seen it cleaned up. And man, it is way different looking. Never did get inside the Colosseum . Sigh.
