SFC Retention Operations Nco

This is pretty normal stuff, it's weird it's even an article.

Every service is designed to have a specific amount of attrition, that's why we have 2-look non-selects officers and RCP/HYT on the enlisted side. The more attrition, the more promotion. What will happen is that recruiting will stay about the same and promotions will slow down, squeezing out enlisted at their RCP. Forcing the least competitive out at every rank, and retaining the more competitive until they promote.

Also, recruits aren't looking at promotion rates when they enlist. 95% of recruits will tell you they only joined for one tour.

Every single enlistment I did was ABSOLUTELY my last one. Until it wasn't.

I'm sure the Air National Guard and Air Force reservable at plenty of vacancies. I don't know about the active component but when I read stories that $40, 000 National Guard in 20,000 Army Reserve are not allowed to show up to drill because they didn't get their covid-19 vaccine that's now obsolete.

Since the reserve component makes up 55% of the total force, I'm sure that's going to be a lot of opportunities for those in the active component to go AGR active Guard Reserve.

Worked as part of a tiny Army detachment in an AF unit once, but never was actually in the AF. I know just enough about AF promotions to be dangerous... To myself. So I cannot speak with any authority on the subject, but ...

If the AF rank structure is anything even remotely similar to the Army (and as an off shoot of the Army, I have to assume it is at least somewhat alike), the big problem is not the balance of the enlisted. It is the bloating of the Officer Corps. Promote fewer officers. We have WAY to many flag officers in our military - across all services.

IMHO the ONLY flag officers who should have neither "Commanding" nor "assistant Commander/ Deputy Commander" behind their names are the Pentagon G staff. And then only the primaries, and only 1 star.

We should NOT have a proliferation of flag-level staff officers. (I think that should be the collective noun for staff officers, BTW... A proliferation of staff officers.)
