Seems Psaki pushes the boundaries of truth a little. It takes a year or more to develop a producing oil well. Those leases Biden cancelled when he first came into office would be coming n line now. I imagine the Biden and his administration’s hostility to oil chills the producers of oil. The oil producers know Biden could screw them over first chance Biden got.

This goes back to a basic disagreement about the future of energy. The Democrats are trying to force a move to different energy sources, which is going to be painful. The Republicans want to let it ride and double down on our current sources. Since the Democratic plan is going to have financial pain associated with it, it will always be an opportunity for Republicans to attack.

There was a big push under Obama for Green Energy. Billions of dollars were wasted. Battery technology has improved in capacity and charging times for EV batteries. EV can go about 250/miles on a full charge. Tesla’s can recharge in 1/2 an hour. So Sherry and I are on our way to Florida this summer, 750 mile trip. If we took an expensive EV we would add an hour and a 1/2 to our trip. The federal government is doing every thing it can to hamstring oil production. You can not build an oil refinery in America today. The last new refinery was built in 1976. Even if we went 100% Electric vehicles we could not get the micro processors to manage the electric systems of the vehicles. If we built micro processing plants n the US we face shortages of rare earth metals. 60/% of rare earth market is controlled by China. We have a shortage of semi’s to haul goods because of the microchip shortage.

LTC David Brown - Those are all good points. Some of them, such as the distance on a charge compared to gasoline vehicles, in many ways has to do with 100+ years of improvements in gasoline engine technology compared to a relatively new widespread use of EVs. That is to say, that will almost certainly resolve itself over time.
The rare earth elements are a more thorny issue. It's not that we don't have them, but instead that we stopped extracting them and ceded the market to China. For a variety of reasons, including national security, we have to bring the ability to extract and produce these back home. What if we have a war with China and they have all the production capacity for these. Our lunch will get eaten if the war lasts more that a couple of years because we will run out of the capacity to produce new equipment.

The ripple effects of the high, and still increasing, cost of fuel will not effect those with high incomes. It seriously effects those with low incomes and our economy will definitely suffer. Good job Biden and sycophants.
