What I attribute to the success I have achieved this far.
1. Willingness to speak out, honestly and justly, but, with respect
2. Constantly setting and achieving goals to achieve and challenges to overcome. Schools and education, both military and civilian, obstacle races, working out, etc.
3. The professional development of my soldiers and myself.
4. (I want to add this because it is important) FAMILY. Always ensuring I make time for my family
Reading.
I am a huge Sci-fi fan. Right now I am reading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. It’s pretty amazing how he manages to tie in a lot of his other writings through these books. Aside from that, Army publications, it is paramount to stay in the know on the latest guidance.
Media
I enjoy playing video games with my teammates and my wife, I also enjoy crime, sci-fi, and superhero shows. I am currently watching Gotham, which is like a crime drama, with superhero injections.
These are all personal preference of course and viewership and taste will vary.

Consistent personal and spiritual growth, commitment to building people and relationships, getting up early every morning with the knowledge it’s a new day. 5 Dysfunctions of a Team, It’s Your Ship, Lincoln on Leadership, Winning by Welch, Conquest of Canaan, Mentoring by Biehl just to name a few.

...I’m a sucker for movies but I would concur w @CPO Byron Kelly that it’s mostly filler and a waste of time. I just like the break.

Patrick Lencioni is an incredible book -- I also highly recommend 5 Dysfunctions of a Team.

This is great, so thanks for asking LTC (Join to see).
Habits that attribute to success: I read daily, I get up early and "eat my frogs" (do the one task i DON'T want to do first), I exercise.
Reading: My blanket statement is if someone isn't reading something every day, they should start. Recommendations are 1) subscribe to a magazine that is within your industry and 2) Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People"
Media for consumption: Podcasts. They are easy and perfect for a morning commute to work. Best way to consume knowledge on the go.
