WASHINGTON – Ben Carson pitched a tax plan with numbers that didn't add up. Donald Trump boasted that he's paying his own way in the campaign, but he isn't. Chris Christie accused the government of stealing Social Security money that it has actually borrowed -- and has been paying back with interest.

Even the price of hamburger got a bad rap in the latest Republican presidential debate, thanks to Ted Cruz.

A look at some of the claims Wednesday night and how they compare with the facts:

People need to remember that facts and statistics can be twisted to say say anything. Fact- 67% of smokers die from smoking related causes. That means that 33% of smokers and 100% of non smokers die from non smoking related causes. New spun Fact- Smoking is healthier than not smoking.

I wouldn't trust anything that says "fact checker" that has to do with politics. Political "facts" are in the mind of the pen-holder. For example, according to the moderators, the debate was always going to be 2 hours, when they were petitioned by Trump and Carson to reduce it from 3 (which was even referred to during the debate). Also, I think that Senators may have more information on how the FED works than some AP blogger.

SPC(P) (Join to see), I wonder why they think they have to lie about such minimal topics? I remember them saying Trump talked them down to two hours. I wondered, at the time, how could he have any power to run the debates. I'm learning not to trust anyone or anything they say.

Colin Powell knows he could have been president. The country would embrace him like a radiating light from heaven.

I guess he knew what he would be getting into after being in politics so long. I can't blame him. It used to be a politicians dream to be POTUS. Now it's a nightmare.
