WWII soldier recommended for MoH. It's about time, don't you think?

An Army medic from a pioneering all-black World War II unit has been recommended -- again -- for the Medal of Honor for his actions on Omaha Beach, where he finally found the bonds of segregation lifted as he tended the wounded and dying under fire.

Salute he deserves !!!!!!!the MoH he would say its not for himself but for the men who never came off that beach

Beyond past time. Racism was strong in both civilian and military leadership in those days.

Capt Seid Waddell Even still, it was recognized at the time that what he had done was so far above and beyond that race had to be overlooked. He was recommended for the Medal of Honor after the battle. For a black man in 1944 to do something so outstanding that he was recommended for these awards says that it had to be way above. It was so far above that, despite the general attitudes of the time, his actions were recognized as heroic by command. For him to die before being recognized publicly for his actions is both a tragedy and a travesty. Our nation needs to make this right.
