SGM Earl Richburg I think that is an awesome idea. I'd like to get Virtual World Solutions d/b/a Sponsor a Vet (VWS SAVL) partnered up with RP and with ACAP Briefings as well. Just need to find the right contacts and opportunities. Hopefully the RP Staff has already looked into that. Once I get some videos completed on VWS SAVL I'm going to send them to the big boss and hopefully we can have some discussions!

SGM Earl Richburg - Bragg could work because FORSCOM is there. I understand the "get at the group" part, but you need to swing a decision maker, then we are talking the beltway, Knox and San Antonio (IMCOM HQ)

SGM Earl Richburg and LTC Jason Mackay I work for LTC Yinon Weiss on a volunteer basis here on RP, so I really have to follw his lead as a representative for RP (just normal protocol), but I'm still very interested in how we can get the Virtual World Solutions d/b/a Sponsor a Vet Life involved to catch those individuals tha have PTSD, TBI, and MST that are transitioning and need the peer to peer assistance. In addition, we want to get other non-profits and companies involved with resumes, interview techniques, and transitoning service working with veterans at least 90-days prior to ETS, Medical Separation, or retirement to get those services to them, so the more we knwo about who the right contacts are the better. Again, if you have the names and contact numbers for some of these installations we can start reaching out to them. We also have a group that we are workign with (Military Healing Center) that wants to provide pre-deployment resilence training that can reduce PTSD on a national basis for soldiers in all branches, as well as first responders, and EMS personnel on a Worldwide basis. Any information you have please send to [login to see] Thanks gentlemen!

Good copy Sir. I am willing to assist in anyway nessessary. I can also assist with resumes. I own a recruiting business here in Tampa, FL. I have already assisted numerous Vets with resumes, interviews, and employment. I do not charge the Veteran. I charge the company. Currently working to assist two Vets, one in Los Angeles, CA.

They would need to get a bit more proactive on the transition/career piece of the site though...

PO2 (Join to see) - Agreed that there are multiple things that can help service members in the transitioning process. From my point of view, the aspect that is most lacking is taking advantage of networking, and knowing how to network. Department of Labor stats show that over 70% of all jobs are found through a network process, and that number is even higher for the better paying jobs, yet approximately 0% of the transition courses teach how to network. That is a serious disconnect there.

There are plenty of transition resources already available to people, I don't think that just increasing that volume would help. In fact, one of the problems may be too many things out there, which makes it hard for the transitioning service member to know what to trust.

It all comes back to networking as the key proposition that RallyPoint offers, which makes sense given that we are a network.

LTC Yinon Weiss - The question is whether the current feature (RallyPoint Career Center) is serving a purpose? If it is, then it should be updated, to be as efficient and effective as possible for those using it ... and, if it's not, then it should be removed.

PO2 (Join to see) - As I'm sure you know, major internet platforms cannot be built overnight. If you look at what LinkedIn was like at year 3 of their existence (around 10 years ago), it would leave A LOT still lacking, but that wasn't a good reason to shut down their major features. Features and platforms are built over a long period of time. So to address your specific question, yes, the RallyPoint Career corner is serving its current purpose, and just like the rest of RallyPoint, will continue to improve and evolve over time. However, this is very different from the question of how RallyPoint can provide a distinctive advantage to transitioning service members, which is broader access to the RallyPoint network itself.

I've been using LinkedIn for 6 years now and know many people who use LinkedIn. I've never known a single person who got a job through the LinkedIn job function (I'm sure there are some who do, but it's an incredibly small amount). In fact, I've never even used the LinkedIn jobs function, but LinkedIn has been invaluable in my career. The value of a network is access and its people, not individual features.
