I am a PV2 in Field Artillery.  I was told by one of my instructors who is heading to W.O.C. soon that even though I have tattoos below my elbow,  I can still become a Warrant Officer. Due to my tattoos having been documented I was told that I would be considered grandfathered in. After being told this my dream of becoming a pilot has been made possible again. First I would like to know where I could find out if this information is true, and from there I would like to know what steps I would need to take in order to complete a packet to request helicopter warrant officer school? I will be PCSing to Ft. Hood soon, so I was wondering if there are any resources there to help me realize my dream? I would appreciate any information or assistance possible.

Respectfully,

PV2 Parker

I am currently building my packet to prepare for the board this fall Sir. I have taken and passed the SIFT this year, and I have even begun taking civilian private pilot lessons a few weeks ago. I am having trouble find flight Warrant Officers to connect with due to Ft. Sill not having an active aviation component Sir. I am excited about the journey, and if there is any advice you could give me I would be more than appreciative Sir.

At Fort Hood you'll have to do it thru a proxy. The WO Recruiting Team belongs to the Special Operations Recruiting BN and they have a team here at Hood; they'll get you to the right folk!

Other than the tat issues, study USAREC's web site on Warrant Officer Recruiting and ensure you exceed every qualification for the MOS you desire. http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/WOoverview.shtml
