Military uniform as a Halloween costume?

As a veteran, I personally think it would be disrespectful to wear my military uniform as a Halloween costume. I also hate to see civilian adults wearing them, because I think they should know better. However, I realize that some civilians may think it's a sign of respect and not realize that it offends some people.
Of course, the children are an exception. I appreciate their parents taking the time to dress the little tykes up from privates all the way up the chain to 4 and even 5 star General. I genuinely appreciate their little salutes. There are few things more satisfying than being saluted by a 4 foot tall 4 star General.

Exactly. I have no issue with it on Halloween, assuming no actual claim to REALLY be in the military. I even forgive getting all the bling all jacked up. ;-)

If they aren't wearing patches I'm fine with it however once they start putting patches on them it is starting to push the line. I saw one at a bar one year in full uniform with patches and everything trying to get free drinks. When I called him out to another soldier that I had met the guy in uniform vanished.

I had my daughter in an OD green flight suit (old pickle suit) and sitting in the cockpit of my OH-58D at Fort Drum.....then my son at Fort Carson.....then my youngest son at Fort Lewis. When they outgrew it I was very sad but donated it to the newest CAV pappa there. The condition was that he had to pass it along when it no longer fit. It was too adorable to keep. It's coming up on 20 years now.....

I remember buying my son a tiny PT uniform, back in when I was in AIT.I was so proud. He was two. He's almost 15 now. Time has flown, SFC Mark Merino. Our babies are growing up :(

Tell me about it. My debates with my daughter have gone from whether it's OK to have candy before dinner to what colleges I'm willing/able to pay for.

SGT (Join to see) - I have a tiny bdu shirt my son wore as a baby, and a tiny pt uniform my daughter wore as a baby, now he's 23 and she's 11. My babies are grown and growing respectively. Seems like yesterday I was bringing my son home from the hospital.

This is why I love rally point just when you think you are the only one you find a large group dealing with the same thing. The college yes my daughter start college next year. Then you got the whole uniform costum my son has that one you can buy at clothing and sales and he wears that because he loves me. Well at least that is what I tell my self. Of course I got all kinds of stuff for the family when I realized I was making a career out of the military and let me tell you this is the only job I have ever had that truly is a way of life and will consume you. I know it did me that is why it was so hard when I got hurt and was forced to retire but I still love all my military family I just could careless for the civilians that work at the VA not all of them are bad but wow big difference in their work ethic.

As a costume on Halloween, I am ok with it. At the airport, the bar, the club, not so much!

Brady Vincent - i took this as a comical/whimsical type discussion, where they are for example being zombies..military members serving wouldn't be doing this..I am hoping that is kind of where we were headed LOL.
