USAjobs.gov is the website that is required to list all "GS" job postings. I am racking my brain as to what the holdup is for many of the psychology positions that are advertised. Their system is BROKE and I am wondering what we can do to help? I am sitting on a lot of jobs that I was referred to. Some of the job openings are closed as of mid-JUL with still no decision being made. The announcement numbers are still valid, and HR claims they are still looking to fill the position. How does someone need 5 months to make a decision? Where is the disconnect USAjobs?

Good news... SSgt Chris Taylor and the company he is leading is working towards completely overhauling and improving the USAjobs.gov site. He's also a RallyPoint member and he and I have spoken about possible collaboration.

Feel free to reach out to him if you want to give him any more feedback. I don't think he can give you any insight about your current application, but given how he is helping shape the future of USAjobs.gov, it could be worthwhile to give him feedback.

The program manager of USAJobs is truly leading in her efforts to re-imagine how jobseekers and the federal government can come together to find the best possible fit between talent and opportunity. She and her team are working diligently to make it so. My company assisted them with some big data projects and hopefully can contribute to this exceptional project...

This system is a 100% joke. The jobs that are offered take YEARS to apply for and almost NEVER hear back even if you are 100% qualified and available for work.

The jobs are a little misleading. The "Combination of experience and education" really means that you need the education listed AND experience. Many jobs go unfilled due to the lack of a budget.

My experience was completely the opposite. I applied for a position on line, with about a month and a half left of wearing the uniform. Prior to signing out, I had a job and only needed to wait for my permissive TDY to run out.

I crap you negative, I finally got notification 2 years after applying to one position that I wasn't the best qualified. 2 years and a dozen phone calls and emails later.

Let me think on this for a moment, does it take 2 years to buy a car, a house, or even a wash machine, then why does it take 2 years to get a job ??

I got a negative review from OPM, the USA JOBS predecessor...2 months after the WthrSvc position at Daytona Bch was filled by a Navy airdale with no weather or radar experience. Had 4 years as a QM on DD & AE, and 4 courses away from a Meteorology Degree at Fla State. Called OPM to ask who was it that was more "qualified" than me. A green-card immigrant from Quebec was the application reviewer...and he said my application wasn't even evaluated because my job "title" in the experience sections didn't say "meteorologist"... I told that French-accent slug to READ THE DESCRIPTIONS in each listed job...EVERY necessary skill is in there. After ANOTHER 2 months, I drove over to the Daytona Bch NWS station for an actual appointment (that I requested directly) with the Station Director...

He told me that the guy that got the job STILL couldn't deal with the radar, and that if he'd had my application in hand a year earlier, he'd have grabbed me & skipped OPM, because they're a Big Charlie Foxtrot.

If that is the way the organization hires people, makes you think if you really want to work for them.

I'm surprised you got a response at all. Most of my posting have been responded to with silence. Not just USA jobs either. Most employers wont even send a rejection letter, or if they do, it is plain to see that it is an automated response. I get better responses from Monster.com spam scammers than I do from actual employers.
Sometimes third party recruiters are bit more helpful, but not always. I found my current job, because one of twenty recruiting agencies, that tried to recruit me for the same job at the same company, actually followed through and found me another position available in their agency, rather than putting no time or effort into me like the rest of them.
