Why did General Patreus get off with a $100,000 fine and probation for knowingly provide his black book with our nations secrets to a journalist he was having an affair with. Absolutely sickening that he could do such a thing and get what amounts to a slap on the wrist!!! Whenever he admitted to giving this women his journal, I knew without a doubt that he would get no jail time. NO DOUBT THERE IS A DOUBLE STANDARD WHEN IT COMES TO DOLING OUT PUNISH TO ENLISTED vs. OFFICERS!!

I appreciate your comments SGT Marcus Chavis, but I do not believe "General Petraeus" got off easy or got over. As a former Commander, I know that we always consider in Judicial, Nonjudicial and Administrative actions Manners of Extenuation and Mitigation. I suspect do the same in other US systems. As was already stated, I am sure his service record, his service to the nation, and him fixing Iraq, were all taken into account.
You are correct, Officers vs. Enlisted are always handled differently, as the rules are different by law. I am not saying agree with this part, but the rules are different. Reducing an officer in rank or removing them from active duty is not the same process, regulation, etc as we use for enlisted Soldiers.

The proper response would be to strip his rank, and dishonorable discharge.

Almost certainly, his record of service to the nation was taken into account when that sentence was meted out. Not saying it is right, because he made a major breach of security and judgment.
