I received a BAH waiver when I PCS'd from Bethesda to Fort Detrick. I'm now scheduled to PCS again, but looks like I'll just be switching to a new location here on post. Question/worry - does my BAH waiver that I got to retain my Bethesda rate still continue if I PCS again on-location but not changing residence?

Are you sure you are actually getting "PCS" orders? You shouldn't if you are not physically relocating. You should just be receiving orders for a new command?

LTC Yinon Weiss That could be true. I've never done a change of assignment within the same post before. That's why I was wondering about how this impacts my BAH. It's like a $600/month difference between Bethesda and Frederick, so I didn't want to lose that.

If you are PCS to another unit within the same installation or within 50 miles, that is a No Cost move, as the CPT stated. Here is the Caveat to that. If this is an HRC directed move (ie RFO or Cap Cycle), then it would fall on the Installation Reassignment Section to create thos orders.

Are you actually PCS'ing or are you PCA'ing? (Perm Change Assignment). PCA should not trigger it.

Never heard of PCA. I'm moving from MRMC to (I think) USAMRIID - both located on Fort Detrick.

MAJ (Join to see) It may be a USMC thing (as opposed to Army), but when I transferred from 1st Marines to 3/1 I got PCA orders. Since we only have the few major bases, we get changes in "Assignment" often, but "Station" less so.
