Ever wanted to block another member? Now you can. Let us know what you think of this feature...

RallyPoint is a community with a great deal of camaraderie and overall respect, but sometimes there may be specific members that you just want to disengage from. Based on your input, we've created the ability to block specific members. When doing so, you will still see their posts, but it will break interaction between you two. When blocking somebody, neither side is able to:
- Tag you in a post
- Connect with or endorse you
- Respond to your questions
- Comment on your responses
- Vote on any of your questions, responses, or comments
To block somebody on desktop, you can hover over their name and then click on the block logo, or go to their profile and click on the 3 dots right above their contact totals. On mobile, you will see the block icon below their specialty in the top of their profile. When clicking on the icons, you see another screen with information on what is about to happen and asking you to confirm. Please see the link below for more details on this feature:

This is a great idea, LTC Yinon Weiss! I'm very glad to see RallyPoint implement this feature. I think it will stop some of the schoolyard bickering that goes on. For one thing, this will stop the down-voting wars that flare up from time to time. RallyPoint just gets better and better!

I can't wait to block someone. I wonder who I am going to block first? This is a great move. Sometimes we don't like being mass tagged or want to deal with a deviate on here. Now we can avoid them.

SSG (ret) William Martin - No they don't. Unless you feelings, you mean "anger," "rage," "homicidal anger" and "Hold my beer and watch this!" When I re-classed to tanker, I added "Gloating because I have a cooler full of soda and a sponson box full of pogey bait" but that's about it.

LTC Yinon Weiss, I have never down-voted a RallyPoint member; but, I have notified individuals that their comments were offensive and reported them to administrators by tagging them in a response to an offensive posting and leaving the decision in the hands of the administrator.
I think the Biblical standard for dealing with offense makes sense here: If a RallyPoint member offends me or if I offend somebody one on one communication makes sense [since we may not be contacts then the only way to contact them could be a response to the offending post]. If that does not resolve the issue then mediation makes sense - in this case the mediators would be the administrators or possibly somebody we both are contacts with]. The blocking I think seems appropriate would be limited to communications, responses, comments between the offending and offended parties. There should be an option for the blocking to be reviewed. In hopefully rare cases where somebody would be so consumed with attacking another member after being blocked that additional restrictions would be placed by administrators with at least three administrators required for a more complete blocking of the offending party. SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" I was trying to remember whom posted the question that was merged into this question within the past couple days. Personally I thought it was somewhat of a unique question that differed from this particular one which was more of an announcement about the blocking capability that had just been added to RallyPoint. No gripes on my part just a memory lapse.
