Have you ever chosen a more PC response or maybe not responded at all because you knew the truth may open the proverbial gates of hell?

There is a thin line to what some call political correctness and what is described as discipline LTC (Join to see).

We all have our personal opinions, sometimes we push the limits of being PC when things are really personal to our beliefs/values/norms. The fact that members of RP typically maintain discipline is one of the best benefits of this site coupled with the fact that people are here to share ideas and knowledge amongst the group.

CSM Michael J. Uhlig Agreed. So far, I have for the vast majority of responses, seen back and forth of opinions, but mostly respectfully submitted.
I do think that there is some holdback, because of potential ramifications.
Example, after I retire, I actually get my freedom of speech back, and to some degree am looking forward to it. Respectful communication has been permanently ingrained, but, freedom to express opinions? That will be coming back.

I don't think I have had this problem yet. But I would say some are afraid of what I have said. A good indicator of this is that they block you for having a different opinion. For those that have blocked me I would only say that maybe it is time to put on your big boy pants and rely on your wits instead of your ability to prevent others from commenting.

And the haters are going to hate in 3.....2.....1.......

I don't understand why people get all bent out of shape when arguing on here. It's STILL just social media. People tend to automatically carry on arguments with negative connotations. Doesn't have to be.

I enjoy arguing - it's sort of a competition; a game of wits. Let it be fun and productive. Best thing you can do in life is accept when you are wrong. That's means you learned something. There are only winners and people who learned something.

Bring it on!

CPT(P) David Thorp - I will say it is because they are weak. They don't want to admit it. They will resort to name calling or the infamous "Listen here son..." line when they can't defend the validate of their point. The facts become baseless as their image is not being questioned. Really it never was in the first place until they interjected it. But when they turn you can see the twists and turns the discussion will go one with no trace of the original post.

I have sometimes not commented, but, mostly because I am not sure of the situation nor the people involved. Also there are times when comments simply are not going to do anything except encourage the other.

Overall, I find the folks on RP to be honest and certainly not bashful about stating their views.
