An epic military parade earlier this month showed off some of the Chinese military's new toys, unveiling heavy vehicles in maritime camouflage as the country's island-building in the South China Sea sits in US military planners' minds.

So how does China stack up to other world powers when it comes to aircraft carriers, one of the biggest factors in air and sea dominance?

Take a look at the photos and graphics below to get an idea of China's naval power:

SSG Norman Lihou Left out of the article is the fact that the only carrier-capable jet they have can NOT launch with any more weight than a fuel load and so...the whole thing is basically worthless.

That reminds me of a joke Jack Paar once told about the Army's new "atomic hand grenade". It had a bursting radius of 50 meters but you couldn't throw it farther than 10 meters. (Who is Jack Paar, I hear you cry? God, I'm getting old...)

They may have the big deck but they are not as proficient as we are when it comes to air operations.

Very comparable to everyone except the US (which is honestly expected). I don't expect anyone to match the US sea power in the near future if ever.

In the near future yes, but I'm sure the era of peer nations when it comes to air/sea superiority isn't that far off Sir.
