So my son came home from school today and, as he was telling me about his day, he was quite animated and actually excited about what he was learning through classroom discussion of social and political issues currently facing our nation. He is a senior at Harker Heights High School here in central Texas, quite close to my last duty station of Fort Hood.

His teacher introduced his class to the following as a means of really bringing out the discussion on a broad range of issues, complete with an evaluation of individual responses lined up against those of current presidential candidates. Further, the tool allows a broad range of filtering options to get a sense of the overall demographics on the issues presented.

I urge you all to take a long hard look, go through the survey-style tool, and be truthful with yourself on where you stand on the issues presented. You just might be surprised by who at least gives lip service to sharing your values on a variety of issues, and to what degree. I know I was.

According to this I side with Huckabee. I disagree with that result. It does make you think about the issues at hand.

Based on my answers I was told my views most line up with Hilary's.

NO. FREAKING. WAY.

We learned a long time ago that there are things people think they want and there are things they actually want. The two are rarely the same. Tests usually help get to the second.

That said, not a Hillary fan either but that says nothing about how our political views align.

SGT Jeremiah B. - Eh. There is no way I could trust the sincerity of a person like Hillary Clinton. Most people want her to return to the White House as the POTUS because they have some sick fascination with political dynasties. That and she's a woman. Neither are sufficient cause and neither mitigates her history.

SSG John Gillespie - People will vote for her for a number of reasons, some of them good, some of them bad, but I think largely because of a lack of options they find better.

SGT Jeremiah B. - All the more reason I'm glad my son's teacher used this with his class and why I simply had to share. More information to cut past the political posturing is always a good thing.

Not sure if I agree with the results, but it was an eye-opener and a good quiz.
