Chances of me getting kicked out of army. I failed alc. Second time land nav first time I had to relearn it second time I was so cought up in worse what would happen if I went for the 5th point so I turned my paper in having 2 hours left and one turned out to be wrong. I know I feel like that decision just ruined my career.

I take it you are young and every young male I have known makes a few bad decisions. Enlisted in the infantry is not the only career and with the right attitude there very well maybe something better for you. Your career is only done if you allow it to be done. My Dad wanted to work in railroad, that did not happen. He wanted to be a mechanic in the NG, that did not happen either. Fifty years later his son (me) just retired from the Army Nurse Corps with over 20years. My Father ended up a medic in Nam and then went to nursing school graduating in 1972. You are going to fail in life and the real measure is what is plan B and how are you going to achieve it? You need two plans right now, how you will successfully stay Army and what your plan to succeed is if you do not stay Army right now.

Thank you I am planning on what if I can’t stay or what to do if I can. I have my bachelors degree and been working on my resume I’m just scared because I don’t have experience other than army my plan was always to retire from the army. Now my life can be changing and fast. I don’t even feel bad for myself I feel bad for my wife and son for letting them down

John as Maj Oyler said previously, in this life we are going to make some mistakes, some major some not so major. But we need as Maj Oyler said, we need to have a back up plan. So don't kick yourself, that's when we go into depression and quit. There are other other careers to choose from. After I retired from the Navy after 21 years of service I went to what I felt was another destiny, the Postal Service. And retired again with 20 years of service. But as Maj Oyler mentioned because of my right attitude I've always tried to maintain with great work ethics of being on time for work, not taking un-needed time off work, the Postal Service gave me an extra year toward my retirement to give me a total of 21 years of Postal Service. At 68 years old 2 years ago, my wife and I went to work for one of the biggest Companies in the world, Amazon. If we wanted my wife and I could pursue a managerial career at Amazon. As Maj Oyler's told of his father not achieving 2 of his dreams but finally choosing another path (of many) he, finally achieved a career. The issue in this life is to learn from your mistakes, ask for Divine help and move forward. I Don't believe you've let your wife and son down. Keep moving forward John.

The regulation says you will be barred for failing ALC. Whether or not your command follows up with that is up to them. You will still need your Commanding General to sign your request for another chance at ALC.

Your concerns about having too much time in service are misplaced. Only your active duty time is calculated towards your RCP. Your Reserve Component time only counts for pay, except for periods of time you were activated
SFC Kelly Fuerhoff
I'm honestly confused by your question. Are you ETSing soon or no? Are you trying to reenlist? You're not going to get kicked out for failing ALC - but it's going to be hard to get into another class. But if you're ETSing - why do you even want to go again? I'm just confused as your question and follow up posts are all over the place.

How are you on the list for promotion to SSG for February if you didn't complete ALC?

People can go back to a NCOES school if they fail it - but it's not going to be anytime soon. Also you have to get your first GO to sign off on it so it has to go through all your leadership to that level.

I've known people on AD and Guard who failed and went back. There's a process to do it. It just may not be easy.

A new memo came out that allowed people to get promoted from the lower rank to the next without the noces completed based on points after that they have 1 year to get school done. As far as ets my contract is over at the end of this year but with all my reserve time my time in service it I get demoted or loose p status I wouldn’t be able to reenlist. I haven’t officially been dropped I still want to talk to the commandant and say I made a really bad call on not using my 2 hours to find one point and I’d do whatever to prove I can land nav I just felt I couldn’t risk it I’m not expecting him to agree but I want to just try for my family since like I said if barred Probly just changed my families life

SGT John Fig - You're not getting another chance to do land nav if you failed it twice and that's a course requisite to pass your ALC. If you do get dropped you can come back, but it won't be probably anytime soon. I think you have to wait six months to be able to get slotted again unless that changed but you do need the first GO in your chain of command to sign off on it. I'm not sure how that might go.

Barred from what? To reenlist?

You really likely need to just see what happens first and then go from there - but if you do get sent home and have to redo ALC, it's not going to be the next class you get back into.

SGT John Fig - I am not sure what memo you are talking about. You can be boarded and integration onto the promotion list without PME, but your status should be NP-ME, Non-Promotable due to insufficient military education. Once you graduate from ALC the status would change from NPME to promotable.

You should not be demoted or separated due to failing ALC. But as SFC Kelly Fuerhoff stated, your CMD may have policies that prevent your re-enrollment for a set period of time.

As with any concern, you should bring this up to your Chain of Command, they should be able to counsel you on a course of action to stay on track.

SGT John Fig - I believe the memo you're talking about - temporary promotion - is for those who are otherwise qualified can get promoted before the required military education.

"The Army has expanded its temporary promotion policy to all NCOs, allowing those who are otherwise qualified to move up before completing the required professional military education."

"The change was effective Jan. 1 and runs through the 2022 calendar year. It is an extension of a previous announcement waiving the PME requirement for senior NCOs who had not yet graduated from the Master Leader Course, which is required for promotion to master sergeant.

That policy began Nov. 1, and it gives qualified soldiers up to a year to complete the required schooling. The same timeline will apply to other NCOs as well, and those who do not complete the required school before the one-year deadline will revert to their original rank. They will not be required to pay back any pay or allowances earned during that time, according to the Army."

"The temporary promotion policy works to ensure that no top performing soldiers will miss out on promotions for reasons beyond their control, Grinston said. It will be re-examined in September to determine if it should continue."

You are already at school and you have failed to meet requisites - so you wouldn't qualify for a temporary promotion.
