Why does it make such big news? We all know that we have terrorists within our borders. We have had homegrown terrorists attack within the US and some that went overseas for training and either fought overseas and/or returned to US soil. Why do we make such big news out of it? Are we not just helping their cause with free publicity? I know that some newspapers had policies when I grew up to not report bomb threats at schools to avoid giving the caller the satisfaction of making the news.
Thoughts?

Sir in my opinion we are consumed with news and sharing it. This post is case in point! You share the same news on yet another social media outlet, but at the same time question "Why do we make such big news out of it?"
So I also ask you Sir, Why does it make such big news?
My answer would be because it sells I guess.

I agree and I also think the names of shooters should not be released. Many do these acts to become famous and or push their agenda forward. We should not assist them in reaching their goals.

Ma'am I don't that would fly in the society that we live in. Not giving names will get attached to Obama trying to protect "his brothers", "Muslim brothers". I want to see names I'm it makes no difference if it's a Johnston, or a Muhammed right?

Here my take, he had to get over there somehow, so somewhere, someone, some agency should be tracking those going overseas to these middle east countries, unless they're not sharing info again. These little b******s want to go over and strap bombs to themselves, then send them over by the plane loads.
Next strip them of their citizenship, place them on no fly list, have INTERPOL flag them at international airports when they attempt to fly back to the US. Flag all North American borders with a BOLO of any so called wannabe terrorist. Time to stop this coddling bullcrap.
As for media coverage, just make sure who he/she is, and if they happen to blown themselves up just cross them off the list one less to worry about.

Great idea, but how do you propose we do this. How will he track them
After the left the airports? Are we having a group of guys following their every move, or should we assign an unmanned aircraft to each traveling American to a middle eastern country. Please answer my questions then you can critique my comment however you like.

No system will ever be good enough. It will be good enough until the process/system can be exploited. Just like all things, systems, protocols, processes, regulations laws all have to be revamped, retooled as things progress and change. A group of guys following their every move, or assigning an unmanned aircraft, really?

I don't necessarily have a problem with an incident being reported. What I DO have a problem with is the way that the media sensationalizes and glamorizes and even, in some cases, victimizes the individual or group that perpetrated the incident.
If you don't give scumbags face time then there's not so much motivation to be a scumbag.
