Does anyone have examples of drivers and mechanics badge orders signed by LTC or higher? I’m trying get our soldiers drivers and mechanics badge I have submitted the memo but my S1 shop doesn’t know how to cut up the orders for a drivers and mechanics badge. If anyone can help I’d really appreciate it.

Look at AR 600-8-22, Section II, Para 8-31 page 112. It walks them through the process and delineates who does what.
Who on earth is running the S1 shop that they don't know where to find basic correspondence preparation guidelines?
Hope this is helpful.

On the Army side...
Mine were signed of on the 4187 by the Company Commander.
Also cross reference DA PAM 385-10 (SAFETY). Or AR 600-55 (DRIVERS TRAINING)

Can't seem to pull up comments. But I found a Distribution Form DA2496 Dated 06MAY1987.
"In accordance with AR 672-5-1, para 5-29, Driver and Mechanic Badges are approved for the following service members with the 5040th School." There are 4 Instructors names (mine included). It is signed by the Commandant which was a COL. Don't if this helps at all.

Any BN/Bde CO who has unit vehicles, can sign off on these badges if they have attended an approved course- Most units have a MAster Driver on orders- usually the SPT Plt NCOIC.

Mechanics can't get a driver's badge. You have to have a lot of hours logged as a mechanic to get a mechanics badge

Mechanics are authorized drivers badges IAW with AR 600-8-22 para. 8-32, section. e, line 3. Look it up, don’t let your soldiers down. Requirements for the mechanic component bar is primarily assigned duty as an automotive or engineer mechanic or be an active automotive or engineer mechanic instructor. You no longer log hours. Don’t let your soldiers down SGT.
