I have done a little bow and arrow target practice over the years (and enjoy it), but have not been serious about it. After watching this video of one who has taken it very seriously, and from friends I have seen hunting and such, I am looking to get more involved.

Any insights from those of you with much more experience?

been bow hunting deer since i returned from Vietnam at 21 about 46 years ago --only real advice is be patient know your prey and be sure when you first hunt to pick a spot on the animal---a lot of novice hunters miss the first deer because they get excited and shoot at the whole animal

Great video. That guy is awesome.

I went to summer camp when I was younger, and got a start with archery there. When I was a teen, I bought a compound bow and had a blast with it.

I have decided that I want a crossbow, and perhaps a pistol crossbow too. Bows/crossbows are almost silent, so they are something you can do in your backyard (have a good backstop though!) and you can reuse the ammo. Very cost-effective!

Cobra makes a pistol; I have one. They are good for close quarters. I have a compound now and later I will get a crossbow with the highest draw rating I can find.

My favorite hunting season in Bow season but never really saw it as an effective weapon, but more of an evening of the odds between hunter and Prey.
The skill of Lars in the video is unbelievable!
