I went to a place that offered active duty and retiree discount but the venue would not accept my blue ID. They said it has to be white with the words 20 year retirement or something like that. Just wondering if they have changed. Does anyone know?

Had to chuckle because when I renewed my Idaho drivers license, I said "what the heck" and checked the veteran block. The agent refused my retired ID showing me a list of acceptable forms. DD Form 2 was on it. I showed her the back side so she could read it. No worries, she then called Boise to say some guy was fraudulently applying for "veteran". She was real silent listening to the elevated voice from Boise. She was more silent when she finished processing my renewal. They're out there.

NO, the Blue card a DD Form 2, (Retired) United States Uniformed Services. It also has the seal of the branch of service and word retired upon it. The word retired appears on both the front and the back. The white CAC, Computer Access Card, is valid ID for Members of the active Duty, Guard and Reserve still in those services. The VA card is also white and like the CAC card hard plastic. Also those retired from the Guard or Reserve that haven't reached the age of 60 where they are now qualified for retired pay have the Red DD Form 2, (Reserve Retired) Also a Disabled Veteran has a Light brown ID card and states what He is or isn't entitled to right on the card.

I hear you. This, like most things, is a failure on the venue to properly train their staff. My point being, if a place of business offers a discount of ANY kind to anyone, they, at the very least, should be able to distinguish the credentials required to obtain the discount.

In the first place that employee had no idea what they were doing. The BLUE DD Form 2, (Retired) says right on it United States Uniformed Services, then adds above the seal of Your service the name of that branch and the word retired. (older forms with GRAY background are still around also and valid) The CAC Common Access Card, which is white and hard plastic is issued to those still in uniform who are members of the Active duty, Guard or Reserves. That is only for those still in uniform or unit assigned and is also valid ID for them. Valid card for Disabled Veteran's are also a valid form to show the holder is a Military Veteran. Also the other WHITE car that is issued by the VA, Department of Veteran's Affairs is also valid ID to show the holder is a Veteran of the US Armed Forces One more form, the Geneva Convention ID card, DD Form 2 (Active) color GREEN , is also valid for Military ID purposes. See the picture here of all those forms of Military ID)
In addition to those four sources from the Federal Government some states issued driver's Licenses that have the word VETERAN upon it, those are also valid to ID the holder as a Veteran. Those cannot be obtained without first having a valid DD Form 214, Discharge Certificate from the US Armed Forces showing that person has an Honorable Discharge. Some WWII Veterans that was War Dept Form 33-55, as there was NO Department of Defense then, that was Post WWII. My Massachusetts Drivers license say Veteran on it.
Sometimes people Who were not Veteran's ever need to be educated and also able to read, it says right on the cards what they are. My blue DD Form 2, (Retired) has been accepted anywhere I have showed it.

Shown here are the retired and also the Disable Military ID cards. These are both also valid for showing Military status including admission to Military Posts and Bases.
