I’m hearing rumors that the two MOSs are combining in the near future. So I’m curious as to what will come of this.

SSG (Join to see) They aren't combining. 42As will take over the military pay competencies from 36Bs, but we'll keep the rest. We still have Comptroller, Accounting, Vendor Pay, Disbursing and so on. If you get a chance to deploy as a 36B you'll see that we dont do much of military pay down range.

Almost forgot. 42As will "process" or "code" the military pay documents and 36Bs will still perform audits on them.

SSG (Join to see) , as a Senior AG NCO, I echo what MSG (Join to see) said. While in the S-1, 90% of Soldier pay issues could be resolved within the S-1 if we (42A) had some additional military pay training and access. With the release of IPPS-A, the S-1 will gain the necessary access to be empowered to assist with Soldier pay issues. Training is being conducted as we speak (Train the Trainer) and will continue to a part of the SSI’s revision of the POI for PME.

I've never heard anything about this and I handle reclassed. Usually Career Counselors are in the loop years ahead of when these reclassed happen.
