Area 51. We've all heard about it. Sooo, aliens aside, is the 'research' done there relevant? Or is this the most over-hyped conspiracy theorist landmark ever?

SrA Johnathan Kropke good call. I just wonder are we overworking and underpaying the Aliens that are making these items that come out of Area 51? There could very well be a sweatshop environment there. JK

I personally would need more information on what really happens in Area 51 to make a determination if it is still relevant.

Hey CSM, I think it's time for Area 51 to open it's museum wing. What do you think?

It is still relevant, look at just the technology that is coming out recently, the latest drone from area 51 is like the B 2 but smaller and has the capability of flying 11 miles above the surface of the Earth for 24 hours before needing to be refueled. This is what comes out of Area 51 so yes still mission essential.

You can see on open source satellite images that its been built up considerably over the last 15 years and they still fly folks into and out of it from McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. I was once told that if you've heard rumors of a project, then its already moved over to operational testing and the projects they are currently working on, you won't hear a word about for 10-15 years.

I'm not informed enough to comment. I doubt most of us are.

Capt Richard I P. all I know about Area 51 was learned by Independence Day and Men In Black, I need the refresher training for this discussion.

Area 51 is still as relevant today as it was 50 years ago. We need a place where no cameras are taking pictures to let out our secrets. The American public don't need to know what is being developed to keep them safe. They need to know that they are being kept safe at all costs.

That is a question we may never know cause who really knows what goes on there other then what we are believed to happen there.
