Is there a moment where the US armed forces not partake in decisions made by congress when things get to political? What if they are wanting actions to occur by our military when they go against the people and the constitution? Is it even the us military anymore at that point? Question stems from an uncertain near future with the new “leadership” that we now have. Just asking out of curiosity

SGT (Join to see), first President-elect Biden (soon to be President Biden) is not "leadership" with scare-quotes, he is the incoming commander in chief and national command authority. You owe him the same duty and obedience under your oath of enlistment as you gave to President Trump, and you are obligated to follow his orders just as you were obligated to follow the orders of Trump.

It will always be the United States Armed Services (or Uniformed Services), and while in active service, you follow all lawful orders. Period. There is no difference in the duty nor the loyalty that you owe to the CIC/NCA or his subordinates just because there is a different occupant.

Do not mistake the free conversation and discourse for grounds to step away from your oath and obligation. We all have to serve under presidents with whom we disagree. Under Jimmy Carter, my airborne unit cased its colors and became an engineer battalion and an armored cav squadron, both of which were horrors for a light infantryman. But I sucked it up and drove on, becoming a cav scout and a mech infantryman, and later an Air Force officer. I didn't criticize the president during that time, nor wonder about what he might or might not do, and you shouldn't either.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Both of us are spreading conspiracy theories. Non of what you have commented has been proven. It's all hear-say from the media and liberal think-tanks. All talking points spread by liberals because they think if they repeat it enough times, it becomes true. One thing that you'll have to admit the left was wrong about, and it ended with a acquittal on the second non-sense bullshit impeachment attempt of the President. We'll be back and the results will show in the 2022 Primaries and in the 2024 General elections. Remember you read it here.

You follow lawful orders. If they aren’t lawful, be prepared to fall on your sword if needed.

Be careful with your wording, especially while still serving. Your question appears to be looking for justification, not a threshold to reach. I wouldn’t want to get caught up in a mess just because of a potential misunderstanding, especially given the predicament we find ourselves in since the attack on the US Capitol.

SPC Curtis Underwood - You should do as the Lord leads you. I do not know what says to you on any subject. The Lord is always right and if He says you are wrong then what you can do is confess it to Him for He is righteous and will cleanse you of all unrighteousness. your statement: "I am willing to accept his judgment be it being sent to heaven or hell" This I can say with 100% certainty is that the Lord says you must be born again. For man is born twice once of the flesh and again in the spirit. Which is to say You believe with the heart and confess with the mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and that He was risen from the dead. I pray you have a time in your life that you have prayed this to the Lord and have accepted Him as your Savior. Thank you for your response.

SGT Perry Spencer - The bible says a lot and for most part the way it is preached is correct. As to being born again that is when you take Christ into your heart and are baptized. I have been baptized and have Christ in my heart.
When a preacher takes 3 or 4 passages and combines them to make a point then that is not what the bible said. This is because each passage had it's own descriptions and lead in, leading to that part of the passage being quoted. That in itself makes the preached sermon incorrect where the actual point being made may be correct.
This is the reason along with many others I do not go to church. I can not believe as the churches do. For instance I can not believe a baby born before it is christened does not go to heaven. It says in the Bible that the parents take on the sins of the children until a certain age. I take this to mean from conception. I do not believe in abortion except to save the woman's life and then it is her choice.
You are shunned if your belief is different from the church. This is the same as a cult does. People believe cult is bad because the devils' cults are only thing ever said about cults.
I brought this subject up to a Methodist Minister(a very dear friend). He said yes the church is in a lot ways a cult. The major difference is they only use shunning as a punishment for not falling in line. He understood my belief and tried to get me in his church but he knew I was an individual that followed his own path and would never again belong to a church. I was raised a Baptist and left because of the way the church treat the rich compared to the poor. Every church I have belonged to put the dollar before Christ.

I started under Clinton and am still serving now. Every single time we change an admin some kid comes asking the same question, "What happens if we are asked to fight against the American people, or When should we not follow the leaders". When I was a BN XO had a good Brigade Commander who told me he took everyone's opinion until it got time to get in the fight....."at that point I am going to tell you to shut the F#$^ up and color". Same goes here, the President will set the admin and they will pass policies. While Congress rarely gets involved directly (they control the purse strings and with things like the Army Cross-Fit Test get directly involved). Either way it is coloring time or time to get out or follow orders.

CPT (Join to see) - One thing that I've always been proud of is the fact that our military doesn't train zombies. We train so that soldiers follow orders but they also think for themselves. When that Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Leader, or Captain get knocked off, the next ranking person picks up the baton. You follow orders until you receive one or more that you believe to be unlawful. At that point you have a choice to make but you have to be prepared for the consequences that will come based on what choice you make. That will be determined under UCMJ.
