No, not to the nomination, much less the White House. What Sanders has done is to establish himself as a force in the Democratic Party's selection process. He has done so by demonstrating two qualities that have largely disappeared from America's political life over the past few decades. One is conviction and intellectual honesty. The other is articulate statement of a progressive creed that was the party's heart and soul when it dominated the country's electoral life, before lapsing into the "me-too" wing of our current Establishment uniparty. Sanders, thereby, has flinted a spark of life into those nominally liberal circles whose lazy and complacent inertia had led them to declare the compromised Hillary Clinton as their latest champion.

I just don't think voters will elect a Socialist as our President, especially when they learn more about his basic agenda ...raise taxes and spend more on social programs for everyone. It is true he does appeal to younger voters but not sure they will all vote for him in a general election...Will Independents and Conservative Democrats feel the Bern??

Hillary just won in Nevada, but by only 2.8%. Sanders will give her a run for her money, but he won't win. IMHO.

SGT (Join to see) - The wild card as you know is Hillary's emails but somehow I think that issue is going to be covered up by the Obama Administration

He's a communist. I think it would be great if he won the nomination, as it would be the greatest landslide this country has ever seen when people actually figure out what he's proposing to do -- but there are a lot of people who show "conviction" and "intellectual honesty" -- Goebbels, Hitler, Stalin, Mao -- all showed both in great measure but were not people anyone wants in power.

You have to be right in addition to having "conviction" -- "conviction" in the wrong direction is far worse than some lackadaisical senator who doesn't believe in anything.

Communism sounds wonderful until we ask who's paying for it. The concept that we're just going to tax the rich and the corporations so nobody else has to pay for anything is great right up until all the corporations leave and the rich entrepreneurs just drop their citizenship (like one from facebook just did the other day) and move to Singapore so they don't have to give all their money to the government to pay for people who refuse to work.

Not if you read the definition of Socialism. It's sounds, to me, it's like what a communistic country does. Sounds communistic to me.

Full Definition of socialism
1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.
2: A- a system of society or group living in which there is no private property.
B- a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.

Interesting thread. I have to agree that amongst all the Democrat candidates, Sanders is the only one who has shown conviction in his beliefs. While I do believe he is being honest with his own beliefs, I do not believe he is being intellectually honest since his ideas just do not work in the USA.

I am attempting to follow him pretty closely but admit I do not know his stance on cannabis legalization and other important issues. I just discovered he wants to keep certain firearms like automatic weapons out of the public's hands. I disagree with that. He is however, a breath of fresh air among the other candidates; both the Republican and Democratic parties.

SGT Jose Perdelia-Torres - And.. that's where you lose me. That attitude completely disregards the concept of a well-regulated militia, which in this day and age is called the National Guard and only comes under Federal control through the State (Governor) making those forces available. You're advocating for a solution to a problem which is already accounted for by State sovereignty. Not to mention, you were *part* of that military which you're now apparently viewing as some burgeoning threat to U.S. Citizens. What are they teaching you kids these days? Did you not take an oath "to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States"? What do you really think that means?

SGT Jose Perdelia-Torres - You're right, I'm not seeing your point. Rather, I'm not seeing the sense in it as it makes it sound like you believe that our brothers in arms would support tyrannical action which would violate our oaths of service, if only they were told to. Is it not fit that I should question such an apparent position and the logic behind it?

not really, i will state that is not my point. but go ahead in believe that. I've been accused of other lies. What I'm saying is given the right catalyst the military will be used against civilians. Those that refuse or think that it is immoral, would be killed. inevitable civil war is on the horizon if the Nation keeps going as it is. All weapons should be available with in reason ( like a bazooka) as long as proper paperwork is done. I don't believe it to be an issue. Anyways, I tire of responding to you, so this is my last response to you.

I don't see how you could vote for Sanders. He has a police record. This picture confirmed as him. He was protesting segregation.
