Good question Ben.  I served in the USMC as an infantry officer (0302) during peacetime from '83 to '88.  Looking back I would not change a thing.  I served with some great Marines and have many fond memories of what we accomplished together.  the passage of time has helped mellow my memories of the not so pleasant experiences and I see them more clearly.  Thanks for asking.

Once it's all said and done the good memories always seem to outweigh the bad and we can even laugh at the bad sometimes.

Without a doubt, I would join the Signal corps, for no other reason that it would have directly prepared me with years of experience for my current job, potentially even resulting in a higher starting wage. I know, not a very exciting answer.

Best MOS? If you could re-class to a different specialty, would you and why?

If I was in the Army, I would try out for SF. I hear so much about them, even being in the Marine Corps. I'm going to try for selection into MARSOC next year for some good livin'.

51C's or any thing involving contracting/project management a point of view for a 15R. Being attached to Apache PM there is so much that the Apache user doesnt see what it takes to support the ever growing Apache! Eye opener on how many ppl it takes to support all functions and upgrades

I agree, I want an assignment like yours towards the end of my career, not only for the insight but also the career broadening opportunities.

The United States Army Infantry is the best job to have. Infantryman have a pride and arrogance that others don’t understand and most never will. The pride of the Infantryman comes not from knowing that he’s doing a job that others can’t, but that he’s doing a job that others simply won’t.

I don't know if its because I'm a Finance soldier or because I am in the reserves, but I am bored out of mind. If I  had the opportunity i would choose almost anything. Preferably a low-strength MOS for more promotion opportunities.

I honestly think most people change for promotion opportunities. I have had two MOS in the Quarter master field. Love my Army job but there wasn't as bigger field as i was hoping in the outside world when i left active army.

I was going to make a similar post.  Right now I have one of the jobs that pays very well on the outside world and the only thing I would rather have is a job that promotes faster.

I agree, I think if you want the jobs that link up with your Army mos, you have to find them in the contracting field around a military base.
