What’s up everybody I’m pv2 jones and I been in the army a little over 9 months, I love serving until it comes to shaving. I’ve tried everything and my face bumps up terrible man I’m talking about it looks disgusting, plenty of my Drill Sgts in AIT tried teaching me how to shave but it doesn’t work. So I just got to my new unit about 2 and a half months ago and I was still shaving even though it was painful and it looked Terrible, one day an NCO From another unit told me that I NEED to go get a shaving profile because my face just looks terrible and she can tell I was in pain so I promised her I will go get one and have them check it out . After my first appointment the dermatologist gave me a permanent shaving profile and told me that I don’t need to shave atleast until my bumps are clear. So a few weeks go by and I have a little beard (still in regulation 1/4 of an inch) so After pt my squad leader pulls me to The side and starts cursing me out at the top of his lungs saying I need to shave , I told him respectfully I have a shaving profile and it hurts for me to shave he stares at me and replied Under his breath “like every other black person in the army that can’t use razors” I didn’t say anything but it kind of hurt because I don’t want to be a odd ball in my company (I’m in a infantry company btw) so later that day we go into work to clean weapons and he calls me over and apologizes about this morning and I told him it was ok he then said that I need to shave still if I want to make it in the military and I replied and told him I’m not shaving so he can F’ing forget about it he then told me since I cursed him my punishment will be to shave or receive a article for disrespecting a NCO so later I went to my barracks room and shaved during lunch and came back in he then told me that no matter what my profile says I need to listen to him and shave I told my platoon sgt about this whole Situation and he told me I need to listen to my squad leader and shave because the army just gives shaving profiles to anyone. Is this right?

All I know is my son has a similar problem, and he got a cream that he used to shave with. He applied it on before then after his shave to help cool his face from razor burn. When I was in the service we had a man with the same problem and he too had to shave. Hope this helps. Sorry I don't know what cream he uses

A profile is a profile however it is not perminate, you stated it was until your face healed.
NOW, There is a product that you can put on your face to get rid of the wiskers, it stinks to high heaven but it works. Go to the PX and get the product and use it.

You have an EO complaint on your hands, but, let me reiterate something, that still doesn't let you say whatever you want to say, use your chain of command, go as high as you need to, but, like Col Harris said, get your profile signed and looked over by your commander, Always stay professional in these situations otherwise you could find urself on the otherwise of some UCMJ if you keep going that route, Drive On.

Okay razor's don't work, I get that, I assume you have tried the other stuff? I can't recall the name, but you mix it up leave it on your face for a while and the hairs are dissolved? it may be an option, maybe not.

If a person has a shaving profile and gets this type of treatment go back to the Doctor and the Medical people, they tend to straighten them out fast ! From a Military Doctor that is an order and if they see sit to interfere with it they may have their own new problem and be subject to punishment themselves under the UCMJ. Orders from a Military Doctor aren't optional and I have seen Doctors light up people that didn't get that. There are people that need that profile, it usually isn't permanent but thats the Doctors call NOT someone that just doesn't like it. There are standards even with a profile but some outgrowth is needed to remedy the problem and shaving isn't a solution to that. Some of the people I've worked with that had those profiles were and remained good troops and they did keep their appearance within standards. The ingrown hairs on some people that have very curly hair can be very painful due to irritation and even infection and this is treatment. The shaving waiver is medical and anyone that can't understand that has some problems of their own in My opinion. Also I think people from the Equal opportunity Office may be able to support You as well.

While I never had a shaving profile myself, I always checked through chain of command when one of my subordinates claimed to have one before calling them out about it. It turns out to have been the correct move because I only found one subordinate who actually lied about it and I issued the order to maintain grooming standards within minutes of finding out. This young airman was put out not long after for many false claims.
