I was told they issue you pretty shitty running shoes that will potentially injure you or something of that accord, the shoes I plan on taking are brooks running shoes , they are solid black color so it wouldn’t throw off the uniform cohesion.

You'll be given an advance on first month's pay to purchase shoes from the PX, which typically has New Balance and other shoes that are fine, they will also check your arches to tell you which style of shoe you should get. Many people just get any shoe without ensuring it is correct for them. So you may end up getting a fairly inexpensive shoe, but it is designed for your type of arches and performs better, and yes as others have said you will be issued inserts if necessary as well.
It's 9 weeks and Army PT has gone soft (PRT), don't worry.

PFC Jeffrey Herrington You questioned how I made E7, then throw age in. Neither matter. Your one bad experience does not mean every Soldier will have issues. Things change over time. If the recruit had an issue it would be likely that it would have been mentioned, but it wasn't.
As for me not being "professional" you may be confusing that with honesty, which is part of how I got where I am. A dose of honesty, even if it isn't the norm, or what regulation says, can be just what is needed. Hence a reason I hold the MOS I do and have been successful in unconventional missions.
But whatever, now we've bickered on this young recruits question. He sees that a PFC will talk to an SFC (may or may not see retired or veteran status) that way, there's your lesson in professionalism.

This assumes that the individual measuring has a clue what they're doing or gives a crap, which I can say from personal experience is not necessarily true.

They will give you everything you need. There is someone at BCT that issues shoes based on the varus or valgus of your feet. you will also be able to get orthopedic inserts from the PX.

I can't edit my comment to add that my advice is to stand your ground. If the shoes don't fit, don't buy them. Nobody wants to be the squeaky wheel at reception, but it's your future health and well being at stake. They're going to yell at you to hurry up, and hurry as best you can, but don't leave in shoes that hurt.

When I shipped to OSUT running shoes were on the packing list, but they were taken away, and I was forced to buy ill fitting crap from the PX. The ignorant sergeant measuring feet said I required arch support. I knew I didn't, but they were checking to make sure the shoes we bought matched what he said. Every step in those shoes was painful. I threw them away the day I graduated. I didn't know enough at the time to correlate my injuries in basic training with those shoes, but looking back, I'm sure that's what it was.

You’re welcome to bring them, but all you’ll get to do with them is hold em over your head for a bit.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: y ou ull be issued PT shoes that suit your feet as closely as possible. And, if needed, you can be issued insoles as well to further accommodate you. But to bring your own running shoes would be to bring a pair of decorations for a locker in the DS office. You'll give them up on day 2 when you get issued your shoes.
