Yes with a waiver from an O-6 or above in the organization you are applying to. A Army Reserve Recruiter knows how to do this. I did this myself with the same codes.

SGT Ji Hong It appears your situation is waiverable. Don't let little things like few recruiters in your area stop you. I've been fighting to get my RE3 waived for 17 years & just found a recruiter last year that was willing to fight like hell to get me back in. Its a long process because the waiver has to go through so many offices, but it if is what you want, it is worth it!

Okay so I had this recruiter contact me a couple months back about my inquiry for reserves, but he didn't ask for my reentry code; I told him what the reasoning was and he said it was a no-go but immediately hung up the phone call. Do I still go after this waiver and keep trying, or do I give up and face the fact that I won't ever get back in?

Life is not an easy cake walk. The Army is not an easy cake walk. If you want it, then keep going after it. If you want to use the excuse it's hard, regardless of where you are, OCONUS or CONUS, or there's only one recruiter, then give up and withdraw your question. Otherwise, do everything you can to be seen by this one recruiter. Make some phone calls to HRC and see if there are other resources that can assist you if it is limited near you. I find it highly difficult to believe that with all those units we have over there, there is only one recruiter. Perhaps one recruiter assigned to where you might be stationed, or can write a particular contract, but if it is too hard, then perhaps the Army is not where you want to be.

From AR 635-200: RE-3 Individuals who are not qualified for continued Army service, but the
disqualification is waiverable. Ineligible for enlistment unless a waiver is granted. The Separation Code of “JGH” applies when an applicant was discharged for not meeting retention standards of the Army. So evidently you timed out for your rank? It looks like you are eligible for reenlistment so go and talk to an Army Reserve or National Guard recruiter. Best of luck!
