Yes, you will be able to submit a packet. Often times if you are deployed and miss the deadline, they will still accept your packet.

Unfortunately SPC Joyner, that is not true. If you miss the deadline, you miss the board. If you miss the board, you miss getting selected.

I would imagine you could. I submitted mine from C.O.B. Speicher, Iraq. Now I had to ensure that things moved along on schedule by checking on my packet twice per week. I also had an inside guy-- my former Basic Training Drill Sergeant was the 25th ID CG's Commo guy, so he made sure the CG signed stuff he needed to sign too. But the bottom line is that you can, should, and ensure that it gets completed and moved along at the prescribed times. It's work, but it'll be worth it.

SSG(P) (Join to see) You have only spoken of the origin and the start of your OCS app being processed? What happened to it and/or you/your career?

In 2001 while deployed to KOSOVO (Camp Bondsteel) as a brand new Specialist E4, I submitted a packet to OCS. Even with a Master Degree in my field, I was not selected (probably due to the fact that I was still a new enlisted soldier (less than 1 years in the Army) and had not had sufficient time to demonstrate my work ethic, commitment, ability to do the job etc. and gain the confidence and support needed from my Leadership Chain of Command). Due to regulation requirements I had to wait a full year before I could reapply.

Which I did (again) in 2004, and everything fell into place...I picked up my E5 Rank of SGT after 2 years and 4 months in, I had almost 3.5 years of military experience now as dependable, hardworking, resourceful soldier and I gained the confidence and support needed from my Leadership Chain of Command in-order to get those very crucial and important letters of recommendations.

I dont know the army's process exactly but Id say it would be very similar to the Marines. Get with you S1 and find out what you need for your package and then start putting it together. But yea, most of what you will be dealing with is putting it all together, being deployed may only make it more difficult but not impossible. Also, if you are on Film City go up to SAMS and tell them Ski from 2013 says What's Up?

Are you asking if you could submit an OCS packet to the S1 [adjutant] in your brigade while you are deployed SPC (Join to see)? You should be able to submit a packet. However you will need solid references from your chain of command in order to be seriously considered. Does your chain of command concur with decision to apply to OCS?
