Greetings all,

Currently I am an E5 with goals of going either OCS after I finish my bachelors or Green-to-Gold for a masters. I’m almost done with my Associates, and the best option for me that I know of would be to get into recruiting so that going to the field and normal long training rotations won’t delay me from working towards my degree. If things change and I feel like getting out of the Army, can I ETS from my recruiting station or do I have to PCS to an actual duty station to then clear and ETS? This could be a big part of where I would try to choose as a recruiter to be stationed and what I do in my future career options. Thanks for any help!

You won't be able to PCS to another station without meeting the SRR for PCS which is Teo years from report date for CONUS to CONUS move, Recruiting is three years.

However you have some misconceptions about Recruiting that are common to Infantry. Having worked in an Infantry battalions there is a common belief among infantrymen that you will have more time recruiting than at an Infantry battalion because of the field. The fact is that in an Infantry battalion you have a training schedule and with some work and scheduling you can work towards your degree. In recruiting you may work longer days and more of them depending on where you go. You don't get to pick where you go. When you volunteer you can put some preferences down, and you might even get them. But you won't find out where you're going till you're in the Recruiting Course and have already reenlisted the three years for Recruiting.

SGT (Join to see) I find this to be accurate. I came to recruiting after 4 years of being a drill. I have less time for myself and family now then when I was a drill sergeant.

You can 100% ETS from recruiting. We have had a few people do it from my office over these last few years. You’ll just use the nearest installation to clear from for things like medical and CIF.

Why not just apply for Green-to-Gold after you complete your sophomore year? I'm not sure how advantageous a recruiting tour will be for you if your goal is to become an officer. This question is all over the place. Do you want to recruit? Do you plan to ETS? Do you want to be an officer? If you could add some clarity that might help.
