Can you go to airborne school if you are in the Reserves?

CPT (Join to see) - I see that a lot. I was active first and did some fun stuff. Then I went to the Guard and still was able to knock out some more schools. But going straight into the Reserves as some random MOS you really can't expect anything. I don't think they realize what they are getting into.

CPT (Join to see) - Well most of the time I don't believe the brass really cares about the reserves and NG. It is a much greater hardship for them to be deployed but as my GWOT experience progressed, it seemed (at least superficially?) that NG was being deployed with higher frequency than regulars.
PVT Cooper, what is your current FA and/or your MOS?

Yes but unless you have it in your initial contract it will likely be almost impossible unless you join an airborne unit and get into an airborne slot (SQI "P" - Parachutist), which are pretty much every MOS in an airborne unit.

I wanted to do Airborne school, but my unit always said, "We are not authorized!" I know there were a few special times, like if some one got "Soldier of the Year" or something like that, sometimes they give the soldier a choice of special schools to attend. But other than an assignment requiring it, you can go learn how to sky dive.

Forgive me but though I have many friend's who have thousands of jumps and they love it, I feel that it is too dangerous an activity to engage in for fun. It only takes one shitty day ... and experience will not necessarily save you. I liked the Adrenalin rush of air deployment, but it was also an operational necessity. Many people will say that it is statistically safer than driving to work. That may very well be true but I must drive to work, I do not have to jump into work.
